The Village News
It’s great to be back and ready for a new term. All the children have settled back in well after their holiday breaks. You will notice a couple of small changes in both rooms as we now have cosy corners, where the children go to have quiet time to chat and read books. We also have a lovely new sand pit which the children have had great pleasure in using over the past couple of weeks.
We would like to welcome Matthew to the Caterpillar group. James, William, Bradley & Charlotte have now moved down to join the Cocoon group. Eloise has spread her ‘Butterfly’ wings and has joined Toby, Oliver & Freya in the Busy Bee group.
Next Wednesday 12th October, we will be having a “fun on the farm day” please can the children dress up as farmers or animals.
The Sainsbury’s and Tesco vouchers goodies have started to arrive and the children are making good use of the outdoor toys and cooking essentials.
The Rhubarb Theatre Company have been and acted out the Little Red Hen story. This has helped the children to understand about helping each other and sharing. We will be putting the digital frame on display in the main room so keep a watch out for when you are drop or collect your children.
Many thanks for all your donations for the Harvest Festival the children had a lovely time singing and dancing. The fresh produce has been distributed around the old residents of the village and the tins of food have been donated to the Newark Emmaus Trust who assist homeless young people with accommodation and training.
We have decided to celebrate birthdays this year, with a small token of a gift hidden under a magical blanket with balloons and a card.
The workshops for children / adults with the “Forest School” Trainer and of course Forest Fairy Fern are due to take place in the next couple of months – we are still waiting to hear details.
We will be celebrating Diwali the Indian festival of light on 26th October 2011. The children will be tasting Indian food and making Diva lamps.
We have been very lucky to secure the Lincolnshire Music Service who will come to
visit us each week over a 10 week period. The IMP music is a system of teaching musical
skills to very young children. Based on the principles of Colour strings, an internationally
successful music programme pioneered in Finland, your children will learn to use
their singing voice using a vast repertoire of child-
You will all be noticing a large piece of material hanging in the entrance – THIS is no normal piece of material, it is going to be the VKG button blanket. We will be asking all children and parents to pick a button which will be sewn on wherever they wish and a book will be placed nearby to tell us the story behind the choice of button.
We are hoping to organise a photographer to come and take some photos of the children
and offer print packages, ideal for Christmas gifts. We will keep you posted.

TESTIMONIALS
Our two sons have both attended VKG and we have been so happy with the standard of
care, support challenge that they have received. The staff have always been very
kind and gentle with both boys -
Our eldest son is due to start school in September, despite only just turning four
at the end of June. VKG has given him such a good start that I feel he will be ready
for the challenge -
I have nothing but praise for The Village Kindergarten -

VGK is fantastic! From our first visit we felt part of an extended family. Nothing
ever seems too much trouble for children and parents alike. The children are nurtured
in a safe and exciting environment and are constantly encouraged to explore the world
around them in imaginative ways. The teams' High Scope approach actively promotes
independent thinking and the place is always filled with a buzz of activity, laughter
and imagination: every inch of the walls (and ceilings) are filled with examples
of the children’s efforts. Each day seems special, whether themed around a calendar
event or by something as simple as an object or idea from one of the children. The
children’s friendships between one another and their carers are underpinned with respect
and responsibility. Our children love VKG and so do we. You feel part of a family
and indeed part of the village community. VKG has given our children a huge leap
start in life, which we can never thank them for enough.
